Throughout my undergraduate years at Howard University (HU), I worked in Athletics Media Relations & Sports Information telling the story of HU men’s sports teams. This position presented opportunities to develop skills in athletic communication, marketing and project management while providing public relations for the HU men’s sports programs.   – Go, Bison!

In my position in Athletic Media Relations & Sports Information, I shared news and achievements through multiple channels to increase teams’ visibility and share key communications with internal and a broad external audience including news outlets, social media, local fans, students, and alumni worldwide.

• Responsible for writing many departmental communications and maintaining complete and organized files of all communications, clippings, press releases and stories involving HU Bison players and coaches achievements and other departmental accolades.

• Distributed news pertaining to HU Bison teams (primarily men’s basketball and football) and HU sports staff and athletes.

• Expeditiously and amicably responded to requests from fans and members of the media regarding HU Bison history, statistical information, or other general data.

• Edited and proofread department publications, including Director's communications and updates annually to the media information guide.

• Project managed many in-game promotions, compiled statistical information for games, including game notes, post-game notes and scorecards. Wrote, edited and maintained content for hubison.com.

• Coordinated events for the HU Athletics Media / Sports Information Department (often over 500 attendees).
